SSSCCRRL 2026
The SSSCCRRL returns for 2026 with another summer of affordable, inclusive and proper grassroots road racing in the West Midlands.
Built around our unique handicap format, the league is designed so every rider has something to race for — whether you’re brand new to racing, a returning rider, a masters racer or an experienced competitor looking for hard, honest racing.
For 2026 we’re continuing to build on what makes the league different:
- Affordable racing with some of the best value entry fees around
- Strong support for women’s racing
- Dedicated age category and vet GC competitions
- Embedded mentors to support newer riders
- Four groups on the road to maximise racing opportunity
- New Team Classification so every rider can contribute
- A welcoming, laid-back atmosphere without losing the competitive edge
This is road racing without the usual barriers.

Ample car parking available. HQ will be in the small outbuildings near the bowls green.
Course Information: Charlton Triangle is a 9.2 km triangle circuit – a great racing course for all riders, with minimal climbing (approx. 55 m per lap). For more information, see our course page on the Charlton page.
Entry Options: Enter online – Affiliated riders (Half Squirrel) should enter using the Affiliated Rider entry option. Unaffiliated riders should enter using the Unaffiliated Rider entry option. Entries made using the wrong option may be rejected. Full Squirrel are pre entered and dont need to do anything.
Entry on the Line: We can accept entries on the line via card reader – £25 for affiliated riders and £30 for unaffiliated riders. However, pre-entry online is recommended.

Solo hit out in Round 1, jersey on his back from start to finish. Faced a challenge from the legendary Ian Gilkes (now of Insta fame!) but stayed cool, bagged 2 wins, and never looked under pressure. Class act.

Local powerhouse 💥 Starting in Group 2, she tore through the field. “That Becca is an animal — she ripped my legs off!” said one rider. Outsprinted a stacked women’s field to take the win from @leah_dixie . Beast mode activated.
@jackwilsun (Vet 40)
Took the jersey from @nickymorris1590 at Bobbington and never let go. A tight GC battle all series, with both riders trading blows and staying within a few spots of each other. Jack sealed it with a strong Top 10 at Leighton. Grit and consistency!

Took the jersey early and held off a fierce challenge from Stacey Morgan – separated by just 1 point after 4 rounds! After Stacey’s crash at Leighton, Mark powered through to take the title. Recently back from serious illness – Mark, we salute your courage and commitment.

Regional legend and leader of the orange train 🚂. Took the win with style and support. Huge shout to runner-up @neil86474 racer, volunteer, and all-round top bloke. 2025 SEASON ANNOUNCED
AFFILIATE NOW!
The 2025 season is here, bringing exciting opportunities for racers of all ages and abilities. Our inclusive racing offer expands on previous years with categories for Junior, Senior, Women, Vet40, Vet50, and Vet60+, ensuring there’s a race for everyone.Cost-Effective Racing
Affiliation to the league is just £10, giving you access to £20 race entries, meaning the full six-race series costs an unbeatable £130 – on par with circuit racing prices! Alternatively, affiliate and pre-enter for £130, which guarantees entry to all six races.
Unaffiliated riders are also welcome to join individual rounds, with pre-entry priced at £25 and £30 on the night if not pre-registered.
Balanced Racing Calendar
This year’s calendar features six fantastic road racing opportunities, with a focus on fair and balanced courses. While the “tougher” courses are still included, the schedule prioritises rider-friendly terrain. With racing categories in place, there’s always something to compete for – even if you find yourself dropped!

The 2024 season ends…
After a season much disrupted by weather and other events, the sun finally came out for the last round of the series. The race, organised by Bridgnorth Cycling Club, was held on the newly re-activated Pattingham course, last used almost 30 years ago, a tough course for the climbers and puncheurs of the league.

Our jersey sponsor, Jacob Tipper, of Jacob Tipper Performance Coaching, was invited to present the winners with their medals and jerseys. He was also invited to race if he wished, an opportunity which he took. Despite protestations of lack of form and training, he then proceeded to win the race showing that whatever his form, he retained his class.

We were then welcomed by the landlord of the Pigot Arms for the presentations and speeches which took place in the beer garden in the late evening sunshine. Unfortunately, the race finished too late for us to be able to sample their menu but we were all able to quench our thirst with a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Photograph by Jimmy Naudi After a speech of thanks from our chairman, John Ireson, to all involved with the league for enabling it to happen and a special vote of thanks to the league organiser, Mike Jackson, for all his hard work in promoting and organising the league over the years on the occasion of his stepping down from this role, the top three riders in each category (Overall, Veteran, Junior and 4th Cat) were presented with their medals by Jacob Tipper with the winner of each category also being awarded the winner’s jersey.
